About GeneticPlace
GeneticPlace is the Dutch marketplace for cattle genetics. Breeders offer breeding cattle, stud bulls and embryos here directly, without a middleman. Every seller passes a check on company details and chamber of commerce registration before a lot appears on the site.
What you will find
Breeding cattle such as cows, heifers and calves, stud bulls for natural service or semen, and embryos per unit or per package. Every animal shows its maternal line three generations back, with the production figures of its ancestors, the herd health status for IBR, BVD, leptospirosis, salmonella and paratuberculosis, and the genomic indexes in the system the breeder uses.
How you buy
A lot is offered at a fixed price, or goes into an auction the breeder starts. At a fixed price you can also place an offer, which the seller may counter. Auctions run on the last Friday of the month, between 20:00 and 22:00 Amsterdam time. A bid in the final minutes extends the auction automatically, so nobody is sniped at the last second.
What it costs
Listing is free for the seller. The buyer pays only a buyer's commission on the sale price through the platform. The sale price itself is settled between buyer and seller directly, outside the platform. Once the commission is paid, direct contact opens and both parties arrange payment, inspection and transport.
